Modeling Post-LASIK Pain — and Winning Best Poster

Eight students, one pharmacokinetic model

A pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling project on post-LASIK pain, and the first time Jalen was the one leading — walking eight students through both the modelling and how to explain it to a room.

The project

The project used in-silico pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling to investigate potential approaches for reducing post-LASIK pain.

Leading eight people through it

I helped lead an eight-student team through literature review, target selection, modeling, interpretation, and scientific communication. The modelling was half of it; the other half was that eight people had to understand the model well enough to defend it at a poster, which turns out to be a different skill from building it.

Result

The project was presented at the 2025 USC Moving Targets Symposium and received Best Poster Presentation.
